Vintage Purple Pink Floral Lace Cup & Saucer #6621 Colclough China England
For consideration is this vintage bone china cup and saucer set made by Colclough China in England. The pattern is #6621 and features purple and pink flowers on a white background. The design surrounding the flowers has a lace look, with the scroll-y or curlique edges, and up close, a beehive honeycomb look to it. I was intrigued and very pleased that the design took me on an imaginative journey! The rim of the cup and the rim of the saucer are scalloped.
The cup measures 2¾ inches tall, the mouth measures 3¼ inches in diameter and the base measures 1¾ inches in diameter. There is a single gold ring on the inside of the cup and the rim, base and handle are accented in gold. The saucer measures 5¾ inches in diameter and the rim is accented in gold. Both pieces are marked on the base with the hallmark used in 1939 and going forward (different marks were used between 1945 and 1948).
This Colclough cup and saucer set is in beautiful vintage condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, repairs, scratches, discoloration, crazing or gold loss. Buyer will receive FREE shipping. Thank you for looking!
NOTE:
Colclough China was founded in 1890 by Herbert Joseph Colclough. In a 1947 advertisement in the “Pottery Gazette and Glass Trade Review, reference was made to “reconstruction of our factories” which was a reference to WWII. During this time of “reconstruction” (I’m sure throughout England), manufacture of all but the basic pottery was suspended in many factories.
